Hydrafacial-
There are multiple steps to the hydrafacial, using three different potent, safe but effective, solutions with three handpieces.
Here's how it works:
OUT-
Using handpiece one, the machine delivers the AWAKE & CLARIFY solutions to clean, exfoliate, and extract impurities. The vacuum in the handpiece also assists in this step.
IN-
Handpiece one is adjusted to deliver the QUENCH serum that is designed to reduce inflammation, add special nutrients, and of course HYDRATE!
Electrocurrent-
The Electroporation handpiece with microcurrent opens pathways deep into the skin.
IN-
The Y handpiece with double lifting contour roller is used for a lymphatic massage.
Skinwave
At Lotus Laser Aesthetics, the Skinwave is used to provide a top-of-the-line facial.
Solutions
Solutions exclusive to Skinwave have been co-created with AnteAGE MD®, leaders in anti-aging skincare.
Serum 1
Gently cleanse and exfoliate with Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid and CocoGlucoside to dissolve impurities without stripping the skin. The addition of Licorice Root Extract soothes and brightens.
Serum 2
Extract and decongest with Salicylic Acid, Willow Bark Extract, and Natural Plant-Derived Enzymes that reduce sebum production, soften dead skin cells, and decongest clogged pores.
Serum 3
Hydrate, replenish, and repair with Humectants, Ceramides, Beta-Glucan, and Natural Moisturizing Factors (NMF) that restore the skin barrier and work across multiple layers of the skin, pulling in moisture and locking it in. The addition of Lemon Bioferment brightens and boosts skin glow.

Hydrafacials can be done anywhere on the body. The face is the most popular choice, but some clients chose to do their chest, back, and even buttocks. It is a great treatment for anti-aging, but it's cleaning and purifying abilities can be advantageous for other skin conditions like acne.
A fantastic pre-treatment:
Hydrafacials are a fantastic way pre-treatment to any laser treatment, as it gives you clean slate, eliminating impurities that may be a barrier to a laser's ability to hit the right targets.
Is painful? What does it feel like?
It is not painful at all and in fact can be soothing. It feels a little cold with the feel of a small suctioning effect. Sometimes the electromagnetic handpieces can cause a bit of a prickling sensation. Not all patients feel it, however. It can also be turned off if it causes discomfort.

Hair Cycles and Dormant FolliclesAs discussed, hair grows in cycles (anagen, catagen, telogen), and laser hair removal is most effective when the hair is in the anagen (growth) phase. Not all hair is in this phase at the same time, so multiple treatments are required to target hairs in different stages of growth. Dormant hair follicles (those in the catagen or telogen phase) may not be targeted during initial treatments. Over time, some dormant follicles may become active again, leading to new hair growth. Maintenance treatments can address these newly active follicles.

HormonesHormones play a significant role in hair growth. Hormonal fluctuations, such as those experienced during pregnancy, menopause, or certain medical conditions like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), can stimulate the growth of new hair or cause previously treated follicles to become active again.

Individuals Can Respond Differently to TreatmentNot everyone responds the same way to laser hair removal. Some people may have more resilient hair follicles that don’t respond as strongly to the laser, leading to some regrowth. Additionally, people with lighter hair or darker skin may need more frequent maintenance treatments, as these factors can affect the laser's ability to effectively target and disable hair follicles.

Age and GeneticsAs people age, the body's hair growth patterns can change, and new hair growth can sometimes appear in areas previously treated. Genetic factors can also affect how well hair follicles respond to laser treatments.
